Music for Minors Foundation is Happy to Have the Blues

March 5, 2010, Naples, Florida—The Music for Minors Foundation is happy to be a Bonita Blues Charitable Foundation beneficiary this year.  They have been chosen as one of two recipients to benefit from the 4th Annual Bonita Blues Festival held on March 12 and 13, 2010, on the grounds of Riverside Park in Bonita Springs. The other recipient this year is the Bonita Springs Assistance Office.

“The primary purpose of the Music for Minors Foundation is to provide instruments for children who cannot otherwise afford them,” states the official Bonita Blues Festival web site. Young musicians from both Lee and Collier counties comprise the student membership.

MFM founder and current Executive Director, Dorothy Friedenreich was approached by Michael Pffefer, one of the founding organizers of the Bonita Blues Festival. She was ecstatic to hear from him that the MFM had been selected to benefit from this year’s concert, which is expecting between four and five thousand attendees this year.  “The economic downturn has made it more and more difficult for the MFM to meet the demand for instruments by our communities aspiring musicians. Thanks to the Bonita Blues Festival we can bring music and joy into the lives of more of these young people.”

Kay Jasso, Board President, agrees.  “We are honored that the Bonita Blues Festival chose Music for Minors Foundation as a beneficiary of this wonderful family-oriented event. It will help us make a difference in the lives of so many kids.”

The MFM foundation will be on hand at the event with membership forms and information in an effort to reach out to the community and let them know about the organization, now in its sixth year of operation.  Some of the Music for Minors students will be performing at 1:00 pm at the festival.

The MFM program helps to bring about positive change in the life of a student through the gift of a musical instrument.  This opportunity affords them a path to self-fulfillment, pride in accomplishment and hope for the future. The MFM foundation is always looking for volunteers and accepting donations.  For more information, call the organization at (239) 947-1943 or visit the web site: www.music4minors.org.
